TwoJewsComedy is one of today’s most exciting young comedic duos, Adam Shor and Eyal Wartelsky, and they have taken the internet by storm with 100s of millions of views worldwide.
But the real deal is in real-time as the Berlin-based duo perform their solo shows around the world.
The Origin Story Of Two Jews And Their Name
TwoJews is a Berlin-based comedy duo that takes on antisemitism through humour, in clubs and online, winning fans from New York to Tehran.
When Adam Shor told his father—the son of a Holocaust survivor—about his amazing idea of being a standup comedian with his friend Eyal Watelsky under the name TwoJews in Berlin, his father suggested they change the name.
Shor’s father believed it was safer for Jews to stay quiet about their identity fearing that his son and his friend were going to be met with antisemitism (prejudice against Jews).
‘Come on, what the **** are you talking about?’” Shor said, trying to reassure his father that antisemitism was no longer a threat in this day and age.
Shor and Eyal kept the name Two Jews, where now, Adam Shor, 39, and his comedy partner, Eyal Wartelsky, 27, have been performing together for 4 and a half years.
However, following the Oct. 7 attack on Israel, the war in Gaza, and a global resurgence of antisemitism, Shor has had to reconsider his stance on the presence of antisemitism in the present day.
The decision to call themselves Two Jews started as a joke.
“It felt like the beginning of every Jew joke you ever heard,” said Shor. “‘Two Jews walked into a bar …’”
Though it works as a setup, “Two Jews” was never once used as their punchline. Unlike Jackie Mason’s style, Shor and Eyal don’t deliver “Jewish humour”.
Instead, Shor and Eyal have built their act around a blend of standup, original music, improvised songs, and dark humour, something that not many or any comedians at all were doing.
