There has been this ongoing joke on Singaporean guys who wear Uniqlo airisms.
Recently, there has been this meme that some people act like NPCs (Non-Playable Characters), where they behave in a robotic way.
So, combining these two ideas, do people who wear airisms radiate NPC energy?

A few years ago, Uniqlo marketed this shirt as the Singaporean uniform.
This is because this oversized shirt is extremely common in Singapore.
When commuting from one end of Singapore to another, you could easily spot about 10 guys who are wearing this.
It is as if these NPCs spawned at a fast rate.
Even one could spot if someone is from Singapore when travelling overseas, and that’s by seing that he wears Uniqlo airism.
But why use the word NPC?
Is this implying that someone commanded them to wear this shirt?
Well, maybe.
Why Do So Many People Wear This Shirt?
First off, one can thank the hot and humid weather in Singapore.
In addition, it is not hard to complement a top with the rest of your outfit when said top has only one colour.
Then, there is this hype around this shirt, especially when it was on discount, so the majority decided to wear it.
Even in National Service, one can spot many people booking in and out of camp with that shirt.
There appears to be this hate train where people find it overrated, so it builds greater hype.
Some people might even wear it as an ironic shirt now.
How many layers of irony are there?
Things come and go so quickly, it is hard to grasp Gen Z humour.
Is the airism technology even that great?
People easily sweat a lot in this sup-optimal fabric.
If you take a closer look, you could actually see the sweat coming off of guys who wear this shirt.
This makes one doubt whether it is as breathable and comfortable as marketed to the masses.
That Moment When You Didn’t Intend To Match Outfits
How weird is it to see someone else wearing the same shirt in public?
There are people who actively try to match or not match their outfits.
Well, some guys are doing it without preparing in advance.
Wearing an airism shows no individuality, which then radiates NPC energy.
So now, the only time to wear an airism is when one wants to blend in with the crowd.
One seems like an average guy since airism doesn’t exude much personality.
You will appear bland at the expense of being low-key.
Barely anyone is impressed if one wears an airism anyway, so this is your new reason.
It is a good buy, but it is also a very safe, inoffensive option.
And that kind of offends people who really care about fashion.
That is the equivalent of saying that your favourite playlist is the top 50 charts.
Nothing wrong with enjoying the popular songs, but if the only songs you like are from there, that might very well radiate NPC energy.
But What Is The Fuss About Fashion At The End Of The Day?
Over the years, this shirt received hype and then got hated on.
Perhaps one can add this to the video called The Rise of Fashion NPCs.
Because, like what the wise man Christian (from the YouTube channel Frugal Aesthetics) said, “You look like you did not spend time on your outfit and just wanted to meet the bare minimum.”
That being said, there are plenty of great clothing items from Uniqlo.
And some might just want to earn big bucks while wearing comfortable clothes, mostly from Uniqlo.
So, is there much else to say about this shirt?
At the end of the day, just wear what you want, even if you might receive interesting comments from people online and offline.
