For longtime Star Wars fans, it’s been hard to watch the franchise go downhill over the years.
The recent Disney+ series like Acolyte and Kenobi feel like they’re only making things worse, adding fuel to a fire that’s been burning for a while now. 🔥
Die-hard fans find it hard to ignore the lack of effort and creativity invested in these shows. 🎨
This once beloved franchise seems to have become but a shadow of its former self. 👤
The Star Wars Sequel Trilogy Was Disappointing
Source: IMDb
It has gone from Star Wars- exciting, adventurous, and full of memorable characters a series that has had a considerable decline in terms of quality and overall satisfaction.
With the era of Star Wars under Disney starting in 2015 with The Force Awakens, there was a promise to breathe some new life into the franchise.
As things stand, it has only buried the series a little deeper.
From The Last Jedi to The Rise of Skywalker, the sequel trilogy has been met with widespread criticism and disappointment both by fans and critics alike. 😔
The modernization this trilogy sought to bring into the franchise has resulted in an overcomplicated storyline, underdeveloped characters, and inconsistencies within.
Disney+ Star Wars Shows Add Salt To The Wound

As if that weren’t enough, the Disney+ Star Wars era hasn’t exactly wowed with brilliance.
The major TV series on Disney+ like The Acolyte, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and The Book of Boba Fett have flopped.
This is due to the shows not being quite as connected to the source material and don’t quite have the cohesion and consistency that the original trilogy did.
Not All Gloom And Doom For Star Wars

The Disney+ series The Mandalorian and Andor have provided a glimmer of hope for the Star Wars fans.
These two shows have managed to breathe new life into the Star Wars franchise.
Star Wars Show Are Being Mass Produced With No Quality Control

One of the reasons why Star Wars has fallen is because of over saturation of products.
Before Disney acquired Lucasfilm in 2012, there were six Star Wars films released within the span of 35 years.
However, after the acquisition, Disney has produced 16 films and shows as of 2024 within the span of just 12 years. 🤯
And in those release properties, many series and movies seem rushed and poorly written.
This has led many to believe that quantity is being prioritised over quality, watering down the franchise as a whole. 📉
The Nostalgia-Powered Rise of Fandom

But with the dawn of nostalgia-powered fanbases, it’s obvious that Disney has moved away from caring about their very first fans.
The prioritisation of catering to a new and younger audience has made the business lose some of the ingredients that made Star Wars great in the first place. ☄️
A Ray of Hope: Star Wars Games
The latest Star Wars game, Jedi: Fallen Order came in 2019, and Jedi: Survivor in 2023, was a breath of fresh air. 🌬️
These games have indeed caught the feel of the franchise through their interesting storylines, memorable characters, and addictive gameplay. 🎮
That says a lot about how, when approached right, Star Wars still could be great.
(Tip: Jedi: Survivor is available to play on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and Series S, and Microsoft Windows.)
The Future Of Star Wars

In short, the state of Star Wars is bleaker, and it goes without saying that the entire franchise needs an emergency reboot if it were to gain back the trust and admiration of its most avid fans. 💥
Will Disney finally take action to rescue the franchise, or drive it deeper into the ground?
Only time will tell.
